Valentine’s Day Baskets

It’s almost February and that means all things love! Even though we celebrate the ones we love everyday, I love going above and beyond to create something special for my little girls. Valentine’s Day Baskets are a simple and fun way to celebrate the month.

Traditions

Growing up, every year for Valentine’s Day, my mom would give my sister and I a basket. I always called them love baskets! They were filled with chocolates, small trinkets, and usually a shirt or some type of apparel.

I’ve now started this same tradition for my two girls. It gives them something to look forward to and I always have so much fun putting them together with all things pink and red!

Books & Baskets

Being a teacher, I love to incorporate books into gifts as much as possible. Seasonal books always interests my girls and I love that you can always find books on each of their reading levels. This year I chose two sensory books for my littlest and one of my favorite authors for my eldest.

I always get baskets that I know the girls can reuse. I plan to use these baskets for hair accessories once they’ve opened their gifts. As far as name tags, I love acrylic tags that I can hand letter myself with paint markers!

Pajamas/ Apparel

One of my favorite things to buy for the girls are matching seasonal jammies! I am a huge fan of Targets Cat & Jack brand. If you didn’t know, Cat & Jack have a fantastic return policy at Target too. They guarantee their clothes for up to a year with a receipt. This means if your child outgrows the outfit within a year or has wear and tear, you can return it. Their fleece pajamas during the holiday’s are always one of my favorites for the girls.

Some other brands I love is posh peanut, lev baby, sleep on it, and little sleepies. All of these pajamas are made for comfort and are crafted to allow your little to grow into for the following season. I couldn’t recommend these brands enough and are McKenna and Harper tested!

Crafts/ DIY Valentine Ideas

What toddler doesn’t love crafts? I enjoy putting any DIY crafts into the girls baskets because they can make it their own and be proud of what they created. This year I bought some stained glass pieces from Joann Fabrics. I love getting a variety of supplies from Michaels as well so I can create seasonal sensory bins. Another hit is to include a homemade playdoh sensory jar filled with all things love like gems, pom poms, and pipe cleaners.

Treats

I usually try to stay clear of putting candy/ chocolates into their baskets because they are still a little too young for candy and I prefer them to not have that much sugar. Instead I put fun holiday snacks or things they enjoy to eat on a daily basis.

For littles I would include baby puffs, cheese puffs, or yogurt melts.

Are you looking for some fun and easy ways to celebrate the holidays? Here are some Christmas activities, treats, and ideas that your toddler will be sure to love!

Pajamas

What better way to get into the holiday spirit than with new festive jammies! I always love the holiday collections from posh peanuts, little sleepies and lev baby. They are all unbelievably soft and my girls love sleeping in them! Holiday books and new pajamas are a fun way to kick start the month of December.

Decorate the Playroom

Add some decor to the playroom to create some Christmas Magic! I always wait until after Christmas to snag some deals on cute signs and save them for the following year. I always get asked about this kitchen. It is a corner kitchen from kid kraft and has held up very well. We got it for the girls for Christmas a few years ago and it is still a hit. They play with it all the time. I did update the backsplash with floral scrapbook paper. If you are interested in doing this, just measure, cut, and glue/ tape!

Picky Eater? Try a Snack Tray!

My toddler can be very picky about what she eats. I have found giving her choices about what she eats and using fun trays encourages her to try new foods. I like to put the foods in silicone ice trays. You can find these almost anywhere and they are great portion sizes for toddlers

Oreo Truffles

Oreo truffles are always my go to desert. They are quick and you only need 3 ingredients! Simply use a blender to crush the oreos, add in 8 oz of cream cheese, roll into balls, and chill. Once chilled, dip them into white chocolate and add sprinkles.
